Do you know that the name of the ancient Karya region, which is one of the oldest settlements, changed with Islam and became 'Muğla'? This story is mentioned in Evliya Çelebi's travel book. However, there is a completely different story about the name of the city, according to what is told. The ancient Karya region was once in the hands of the Greeks. Ruler Muğlı, who was a Christian at the time, sees Prophet Muhammad (SaaS) in his dream and immediately accepts Islam. He then conquered the castle and took it from the Greeks. And so, the town was named after him.
