State Opera and Ballet

State Opera and Ballet refers to the General Directorate, established with the Law No. 1309, which brings together opera or ballet formations at the national level. The State Opera and Ballet are located in six different cities in Turkey. Other than Ankara, activities continue throughout the year in Izmir, Mersin, Samsun, Antalya and Istanbul. Its main objective is to bring the masses together by using the power of opera and ballet, to bring these special arts together with the public and to perform various festivals and concerts at the national level. After the revolution of the Republic, as in every field, there are very important and fundamental changes in the field of culture and art. As a result of these changes, Atatürk supports the opening of many institutions. The State Opera and Ballet in Ankara always stops in a much more special place. Compared to other directorates, this place has a history of success. Şevki Balmumcu signed Exhibition Building in 1948 was converted into an Opera house through P.Bonatz's efforts. Ankara State Opera and Ballet; audience section, entrance section and stage are divided into three. This building was built as a result of a competition organized in 1931. The website of the Ankara Directorate of State Opera and Ballet publishes the most current programmes throughout the year. It is known that the Opera House was created entirely with native materials. Especially the stained glass windows in the foyer fill the eye with its original texture. On the other hand, the suspended ceiling in the audience is applied very successfully.
