Hacettepe Mosque

The capital Ankara offers a very rich programme in terms of sightseeing and travel. Especially the works and museums built during and after the Republic period show a remarkable increase. In addition to this, it always finds a place in the baths, mosques, madrasas and churches. Located on Sarıkadın Street in Sumer District, Hacettepe Mosque stands out with its mudbrick walls. The roof of the mosque is tiled and in general plain. The minaret section is seen to have wooden material. This section is located in the northern part of the mosque. Women are included as a result of the final regulation. During this arrangement, the ceilings of the mosque are also renovated. Today, it can be observed that this area is oil painting. Hacettepe Mosque, which is located in Altindag District of Ankara, is particularly interesting because of its original mihrab. On the facade walls of the place of worship, which is built on a slope, there are mudbrick weaves with wooden beams. The final parish location is later closed. Therefore, due to the windows located in the eastern part, it has a chance to open outwards. At the site of the last congregation, there is an altar which was added later. The other mihrab is made of plaster and carried in its original form from the first period to the present day. The Round Arch in the north is used to enter the Harim(sanctuary). In niche sections, rather pleasant geometric figures, immediately stand out. In the same way, various star decorations are preferred in the corners. The repair inscription of the mosque reaching today is four lines. The original construction inscription is unfortunately unreachable. The repair in question belongs to the year 1985. It is known that the repair was carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations at that time. The Hacettepe Mosque, estimated to have survived from the 15th century, is still open for worship today.
