Metu Science and Technology Museum

Metu is much more than a university, as it will be accepted. Metu, which is regarded as one of the most important universities not only in Ankara but also in the world, allows contemporary individuals and scientists to be trained at all times. Metu Science and Technology Museum, one of the castles of Ankara, is one of the two important museums of Metu, which bears its own name, reflecting its unique culture, student profile, academic staff and technical background. This museum, which is remembered by the artifacts unearthed from the excavations of Koçumbeli and Yalıncak, stands out as one of the most visited places for students in Ankara. Another museum opened under the name Metu is the Metu Science and Technology Museum, which has been in service since 2003. When you come to the museum, it is reflected how the technology gained momentum in the Anatolian lands starting from 7000 BC. The aim of the museum is to show this development and to be able to pass it on to future generations. The first works on the museum essentially correspond to the year 2001. As a result of the researches, four main areas are determined for the museum and collections about these areas are created. These sections can be listed as Applied Science Center, transportation history, Open-Air exhibition space, and Technology History exhibition. The section called Science and Technology Exhibition is visited between 09:00 and 17:00. Saturday visiting hours are updated between 11:00 and 16:00. A total of nine staff members take part in the Science and Technology Exhibition. ‘Touch my knowledge’ understanding is adopted at the Center for Applied Science. There are ongoing presentations or experiments to examine physical or natural phenomena. It is possible to feel yourself in the depths of space in a section called Planet House screenings. In the open-air exhibition area, the classic cars exhibition is of particular interest.
