Antalya Toy Museum
01.04.2024 05:11
Antalya Toy Museum, which managed to attract the attention of adults as well as children, was created largely as a result of the efforts of poet Sunay Akın. The opening of the museum was brought to the exact date of April 23 in 2011.
In total, around three thousand antique toys are exhibited in Antalya Toy Museum. Offering a fairytale atmosphere, the museum is one of the city's two toy museums. The museum in Kaleiçi, one of the most touristy areas of Antalya, is the third Museum in Turkey to be opened with this theme.
The toys housed in the museum consist of pieces that were used between 1860 and 1980. This understanding is also likely to closely examine the evolution of toys in the historical journey. Not only domestic but also foreign productions are featured in the museum. Antalya Toy Museum contains very interesting examples, especially of doll houses.
Most of the toys found in the museum were produced on the roof of factories that began operating after the Industrial Revolution. A paper ship meets visitors at the entrance of the museum. This is also a symbol of the museum. The famous artist Ayhan Doğan labored in the design processes of the museum. From Cinderella to Nasrettin Hoca, from Micky Mouse to Smurfs, many local and foreign figures are in the museum.
Once quite popular in Turkey, Fatoş, Bilge and Alasya brand dolls form one of the most nostalgic parts of the exhibition. You can visit the museum to witness the tin toys and plush dolls, especially the 1950s stamp. The museum also has a workshop hall and an amphitheater with a capacity of 500 people. Covering a total area of 700 square meters, the museum's entrance fees are quite reasonable. The museum is open every day of the week except Monday.
