Kocain Cave

The Kocain cave in Antalya has the status of a natural monument. It has been under special protection since 2013, according to the National Park Act. It is necessary to follow the Antalya-Burdur highway to reach Kocain cave, which is located in the northern part of the city around 45 kilometers. The cave is located very close to the villages of Ahirtaş and Camiliköy and attracts great interest from visitors throughout the year. The store is ranked first in Turkey in terms of its entrance mouth. It also has the largest gallery, considering its one-piece form. The columns, which have an average height of 50 cents in the interior, attract immediate attention. At the same time, the cave is home to a large cistern that has survived from the Roman period. Its mouth at the entrance section of the cave has a length of 20 to 70 meters. There are huge stalagmite structures in Kocain cave, which has been declared the largest cave in Turkey in terms of the size of the gap. The diameter of the stalagmites is approximately 8 meters. In terms of height, there are also those reaching 45 meters. To get to the cave, you have to reserve a time frame of almost two hours. Landings usually take around 1.5 hours. Three separate ways to reach the cave can be preferred. It is possible to reach the cave by choosing one of the Çakırlar, Gökseki or Ahirtaş roads. Kocain cave, home to many important prehistoric finds, was first discovered in 1919. The most extensive research took place in 1972 by Dr. Temujin Aygen and some French cavers. The total length of the cave is 633 meters with ceiling height over 75 meters. When the inscriptions are examined, it can easily be seen that the cave bears traces back to the Byzantine period. There are no temporal restrictions on visiting Kocain cave. It can therefore be visited every day and every hour. It is possible to enter the cave free of charge.
