Bursa Long Bazaar

Long Bazaar, one of the most active and touristic bazaars in Bursa, dates back to 1340. It begins to expand over time thanks to the inns added here. Among these inns, it is possible to list inns such as Fidan Inn, Koza Inn, Geyve Inn. On the other hand, in time, the market gains a great breadth thanks to coppersmiths, goldsmiths, herbalist, second-hand bookseller and quilted tuban seller. The place where Long Bazaar ends is considered as Tuzpazarı located at the eastern end.

The Long Bazaar, also known as the ‘Grand Bazaar’, is always faced with disasters such as earthquakes and fires in its historical adventure. In every period of history, the sectors that put their weight here change. This place started to be called the Long Bazaar after the 15th century. One period, it is also called ‘Suk-i Sultani’, especially because of the sale of real estate in this bazaar by auction method.

Another end of Long Bazaar is the northern gate of Koza Khan. The Long Bazaar, which is a very busy shopping area, has never lost its popularity despite the last hundreds of years. In 2008, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality goes to an environmental arrangement in Long Bazaar. In this arrangement a standard is set on shop fronts.
