II. Murat Mausoleum

Is located within the boundaries of Bursa II. Murat mausoleum is included in the area known as Muradiye mausoleum. So when you come to visit this shrine, you may encounter many coffins.

Firstly, the structure giving the name regarding of II. Murat, we should mention that he is the only ruler in the Ottoman Empire who left the Sultanate of his own will. In the meantime, according to the inscription on the door of the tomb, this place was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet. As it is known, he is the son of II.Murat. According to the information in the same inscription, the mausoleum was built in 1451. In fact, it is passed on that it was built by the will of II.Murat himself.

Two rows of brick and rubble stone sequences were used in the structure that houses the Tomb. The dome section is left open. This was also part of II.Murat's will. The window in the eastern section of the II.Murat Mausoleum is converted into a door. In later periods, a new structure is added to this area. In this area, crates belonging to II.Murat's children are found. The upper section of the marble crate is covered with soil. II.Murat Mausoleum is located in the central part of the complex. It is also in the neighbouring state with the mosque, which is located within the building community. To enter the tomb, a marble iwan is passed through. The wooden eaves stand out as a rather impressive-looking detail. There are various geometric decorations in the immediate vicinity of the stars.The Tomb of II.Murat has a square plan. Each edge measures approximately 13 meters.
