Kapan Khan, located in the western section of the Great Mosque in Bursa, is built by I.Murat. The written sources quoted about the khan emphasize that this place essentially functioned as a guest house rather than as a trading house. In the same area, during the arrangement of Atatürk Street, a section of the walls unfortunately remain in a state of collapse. This section of the khan is divided into roads. This unfortunate situation is known to have occurred between 1903 and 1906. The name of the street in question was previously Palace Street. Kapan Khan also encountered a major fire disaster in 1958. It loses its old popularity even though it is repaired again after the fire.

When the khan was first built, agricultural products were marketed here. Today, some rooms on the north side are standing, with the entrance having a vault cover. When you visit Kapan Khan, you can see largely with planting or textile workshops. In some sources it is stated that this impressive place was created by Isa Bey. The same sources also say that the khan was built in order to provide income to the complex in this region. The name of the khan evolves from the Arabic word ‘Kabban’. The word 'Kabban' is called the instruments used in the name of weighing the products offered at the khan entrances.

The area covered by Kapan Khan is about 80 square meters. Both the ground floor and the first floor of this place have entrance sections. A total of 44 rooms are created for both passengers and traffickers who come here with caravans. In the eastern section of the khan, there may be a special section thought to house the horses brought here. Consisting of portico rooms around a courtyard, Kapan Khan had 29 Rooms in total in 1685. Accordingly, it is estimated that other rooms were included in the khan in later periods. Since the khan has undergone numerous repairs since the first time it was built, it loses its original identity and function at a very heavy rate.
