Tophane Clock Tower

The Tophane Clock Tower, which is among the symbolic buildings in Bursa, is located in the heart of the city. In 1905, the tower with a height of 33 meters, which was completed in the Ottoman Sultan II.Abdulhamid's time, is one of the important sightseeing and recreation areas of the city.

The top of the six-storey structure, which can be entered through the door on the south side, is reached by an 89-step staircase. Like many other clock towers of its time, the tower, which is built of cut stone and has balconies on two floors, is notable for its pointed arched windows and niches.

The building, which has historical clocks with quadrants around it, served for fire surveillance after its construction. As the construction around it was scarce, the surrounding area was closed in parallel with the development in Bursa and the panoramic view function was eliminated. The tower, whose clocks do not work today, is a monumental historic building. Due to its location in a region with a large number of historical and cultural structures, it is one of the most frequented points of tourists coming to the city.
