Ilhan Koman Mansion

Ilhan Koman Mansion, one of the historical mansions of Edirne, is located in the Kaleiçi neighborhood in the city center. Ilhan Koman, who gave his name to the mansion, was born in Edirne in 1921 and completed his education in the sculpture department at Istanbul University. In later periods he performs some work in France. He manages to be the architect of many works, especially Mediterranean sculpture. Because of being from Edirne, he has a much more special meaning for the city. Ilhan Koman mansion is built in neoclassical style. Greek architects have an important role in the construction process of Ilhan Koman Mansion. Construction of the mansion was completed in 1908 and opened for service. Ilhan Koman Mansion is referred by this name because he was born in this mansion. For himself, the mansion is a family heirloom. Family elders live here for many years before him. Ilhan Koman is known as the last person to sit in the mansion. Ilhan Koman mansion has been used for different purposes from period to period since it was purchased by the ministry. This mansion was also known as ‘Doctor's House’ among the locals at the time as it was bought by Ilhan Koman's father, who was a doctor.
