Abdurrahman Gazi Tomb, one of the places where the Ottoman State has shown its devotion to islam, has been visited by thousands of people every year since 1796. Abdurrahman Ghazi is one of the companions of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Gazi, who is also the bannerman of The Prophet Muhammad, has great importance for Islam and Muslims... Turks, who converted to Islam in 751 B.C., also shaped their social life, culture and customs in accordance with this religion. The Ottomans, especially known for their respect for the companions and the religious man, are also built on these foundations. In 1796, a tomb was built by The Governor of Erzurum, Yusuf Ziya Pasha, for Abdurrahman Gazi, a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Additionally a mosque is built just beside it. The tomb and mosque, which is believed to be the grave of Abdurrahman Gazi in here, has thus become one of the most visited haunts in Erzurum since the 18th century. Selim, the most famous calligrapher of his time, wrote the inscription of the tomb. Within the tomb, an area of approximately 5 meters, believed to belong to Abdurrahman Gazi, is reserved. Over time, the building is adorned with trees and becomes a promenade today.
