In Erzurum, which owes its historical silhouette and its astonishingly beautiful ambience to its thousands of years of origin, the legacy moved from the Ottoman Empire to the present day is remarkable. The mosques, caravanserais, tabyas, inns and many more works that make up this scope have special places. More than 30 inscriptions, i.e. the year of construction and the fountain with a written certificate of stone containing the names of the builder, the total number of fountains in the city close to 180, partial details of the existing buildings in the famous Shabahane Fountain. The fountain, which dates back to 1556 and is offered to the service of the people of the region by a man named Jacob, continues to reflect its historical texture, although it has been damaged by influence of years. In the meantime, there is no detailed information about who built it ,that has survived. However, in the Persian inscription , 'Built in the name of Suleiman the Magnificent...' it may be thought that he may be one of the city's people. On the other hand, there is another inscription written in Persian, but in talik style (an old style with long lines and steep lines short). We said Şabahane Fountain was famous because its inscription is the oldest Ottoman fountain in Erzurum, which is in its current state. In this respect, it has a true historical heritage property. The Fountain of Şabahane, which can be shown among the landmarks of Erzurum, is a striking value that complements the historical atmosphere of the city.
