Long Ahmet Bastion

It is possible to understand the political, cultural and social fabric of Erzurum from the historical structures of the city, one of the first cities that come to mind with bastions. The military structures, i.e. the military structures that were fortified and strengthened by weapons to defend Erzurum, which was founded at the base of the Palandöken Mountains, were first considered in the 18th century.
The bastions that stood out in the city's defense and were strategically important were among the defensive shields of the imperial era. Bastions, which have taken on the task of strengthening the city's defense against attacks that may come from outside, continue to exist it’s spiritual today with their stories touching hearts.
Built in 1855 for observation and defense purposes, Long Ahmet Bastion is one of the historical bastion where countless martial stories have been experienced. Named after Uzun Ahmet Village, where it stayed in the western part, bastion has a strategic importance in terms of its establishment location.
Long Ahmet Bastion, which is designed to see and intervene in the attacks from the Bath Creek area from above, stands out among other bastion with its architectural features.
The Bastion, built to protect the Deveboynu Pass starting from pasin plain, is designed with high security measures in mind. The walls of the drains, the trenches stand out. It can also be seen rooms with square plan on either side. Long Ahmet Bastion, which promises an interesting atmosphere, is one of the highlights of Erzurum.
