Catholik Church

Antakya, one of the three largest cities of the Roman Empire; It is the first city where Christianity has spread since Jerusalem. This is the first time those who believe in the religion of Jesus christ have been named Christian. The Catholic Church on Antakya Liberation Street is also of great importance to Christians. For 600 years, this religious place where bells have been rang for Christians has been converted into a place of worship when it was originally a home. For the Catholic Church, which is located in a small monastery structure rather than a church, the process of converting an old Antioch house into a church begins with permission from the sultan of the period. The house, which opened to worship in the 19th century, becomes part of the triangle of tolerance, which includes mosques, synagogues and churches in antioch. This building located in a lush area and a typical oriental-style monastery, has two halls and three gardens. There is also a guesthouse attached to the Catholic Church, where restoration works were carried out between 1989 and 1991. Since 1995, the Catholic Church has hosted guests in the nine-room (18-bed) guesthouse.
