Ahmet Mithat Efendi Mansion, located on Fevzi Paşa Street in Beykoz on the Anatolian side of the Bosphorus, is one of the most spectacular wooden mansions of the 19th century. This historical mansion, which dates back to 1887 and got built by Ahmet Mithat Efendi, has four floors including the stone service floor, and the first floor is made of masonry and the upper floor consists of completely wooden.

The mansion, where Ahmet Mithat Efendi spent the last 22 years, is also of great importance since it was the place where conversaziones attended by the most famous poets and authors of the period, were held.Ahmet Mithat Efendi was actually a famous journalist who was born in 1844 as the son of a tradesman in the Spice Bazaar known as Hacı Süleyman. Ahmet Mithat Efendi was raised by the Danube Governor, Grand Vizier known as Ahmet Mithat Pasha and named after him and he became famous not only for the newspapers he published (Devir and Bedir), but also for many novels he wrote.

The most interesting information that can be given about Ahmet Mithat Efendi is that, contrary to the details such as having such a magnificent mansion indicating wealth, Ahmet Efendi's funeral was held by the Darüşşafaka Society because he had no money when he died.

After his death, Ahmet Mithat Efendi Mansion was not used for a long time and almost left to decay however it was rebuilt in 1991 and the balcony added to the first floor unfortunately impaired the authenticity of the building.

Ahmet Mithat Efendi Mansion overlooking the the Bosphorus witnessed the moments of pleasure through "literary gatherings and music realms" initiated by Ahmet Mithat Efendi himself and continued until the 1960s and the mansion should be visited and seen in today's conditions and information about its history should be obtained.
