Amcazade Hüseyin Pasha Madrasa

Amcazade Hüseyin Paşa Madrasa, located within the borders of Istanbul Saraçhane, consists of a fountain, a public fountain, 16 madrasah cells, a primary school, a classroom, and a mosque. The person who built the madrasah, which covers an area of ​​2.580 square meters in total, is Köprülüzade Amcazade Hüseyin Pasha, who was the Grand Vizier of the period of Sultan Mustafa II (1695-1703). Amcazade Hüseyin Pasha, who had this madrasah built by Chief Architect İbrahim Ağa during his grand vizierate between 1697 and 1702, was the grand vizier during the period when the Ottoman Empire started to decline.

It is possible to enter the madrasa from the courtyard where the fountain is located in the middle of the complex. The 12-line Arabic inscription in thuluth written on the entrance door of the madrasa is worth seeing. In addition to the primary school, library, and four madrasah cells are on the right side of the courtyard, 16 madrasah cells are in the opposite part of the entrance.

After visiting the area surrounding the courtyard in a U shape and between the classroom and the madrasah cells, you can see the cells where there are discussions about whether it is 16 or 17. The madrasah cells' entrance doors, which have a square plan of 4 x 4 meters, are entirely made of flattened arches and limestones. The dome, which is covered with mirror vaults, is located on the entrances. The sloping roof on the crowns and the columns made of white marble are among the madrasa's most distinctive features.
