Emirgan Grove

Emirgan Grove is among the historical places in Sarıyer, İstanbul. It is located between the quarters of İstinye and Emirgan, which are exactly close to the Bosphorus. The surrounding of Emirgan Grove, which spreads over a large area of ​​47 hectares, is protected by walls. IV. Murad granted Emirgan Grove to Emir Güne Han in 1600's as a gift. The name of the area, which was known as Feridun Gardens in the previous years, changed with this process. The grove changed hands frequently in the following years. In the 1800s, Sultan Abdülaziz gave this place to Hıdivi İsmail Pasha. Towards the end of this century, three separate pavilions were built in the grove in seven years. These mansions are called Yellow Pavilion, White Pavilion and Pink Pavilion. All three pavilions have survived to this day.

Emirgan Grove is expropriated in 1940 with the efforts of Lütfü Kırdar, who was the mayor of that period. With this expropriation, it is arranged as a park and opened to public use. Since 2006, the Tulip Festival has been held in the grove every April. All of the kiosks are made open to service especially for this festival. Emirgan Grove brings to mind the magnificent view of the Bosphorus, tulips and the mansions in it. This place is also suitable for walking or jogging activities. Currently, there are 120 different plant and tree species in Emirgan Grove. Himalayan cedar, Aleppo pine, Japanese velvet pine are the species that attract special attention.
