This farm, located in a botanical park consisting of colorful flowers and plants in an area surrounded by forests, is known as Turkey's first butterfly farm.
Çiğdem Ünlü, a retired teacher who was impressed by the butterfly gardens she saw in England and established this butterfly farm in Turkey in 2013, contributes to the continuation of the butterfly species. Butterflies, which spend most of their lives in cocoons as caterpillars, are not very interesting animals until they acquire colorful wings.
Istanbul Butterfly Farm, which hosts approximately 800 butterflies, invites us to the natural lives of these magnificent creatures. In the garden, where a tropical climate is created, 28 degrees Celsius and 80 percent humidity conditions are conditioned, special care is applied to 15 different butterfly species. With the help of guides and prepared videos, you accompany the story of these colorful creatures from the birth of the butterfly to its winging and flight. In this journey, where you can get detailed information about butterfly species, you get to know new species you have never seen before and witness unforgettable moments.
Trees and many plant species that butterflies and caterpillars will love and can feed on have been specially brought to the farm from abroad and Anatolia. Butterflies that do not have mouths can feed with their proboscises, but they need liquid food for this. When the flowers are not enough for the approximately 800 butterflies in the garden, fruit juices are also provided. In the farm, which covers an area of approximately 4-5 acres where no chemicals are used, visitors are told about the benefits of butterflies to the ecosystem, thus allowing for the creation of social awareness.
