Istanbul Health Museum, located in Sultanahmet, one of the historical areas of the city, is based on interesting exhibitions in the field of medicine in a building built in the first quarter of the 20th century.
The Istanbul Health Museum includes exhibits to raise awareness of the society against epidemic diseases that spread during World War I, materials used in health, brochures, and various tools in its collection. Also, the objects in the museum are presented in different ways. One of them is the scenes in the rooms. In the health-centered scenes, visitors meet mannequins made of wax with authentic clothes and items of the period in their surroundings. In the museum, where informative scenes about old health education also stand out, the most striking staging is that a doctor practically teaches his/her students.
The museum, which depicts the use of old medicine bottles, surgical instruments, and many more items in the 1900s, is open every weekday. It should also be noted that apart from the exhibition area on the first floor, activities such as conversations and exhibitions are also held at the museum.
