Women's Bazaar

21.04.2024 04:46

Women's Bazaar is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul, between Bozdogan Aqueduct (Aqueduct of Valens) and Fatih Mosque. The market, which consists of workplaces along Itfaiye Street, looks like a bazaar.

The name of the Women's Bazaar has an interesting story. The story is that besides the vegetable-fruit market in Eminonu, there was also a place where women sold products. After a while, this place moved to Fatih and was called the Women's Bazaar because of the fruit and vegetable stalls where only women waited to sell the products. Today, although most of the shopkeepers consist of men, the historical name shaped by labor and dedication is preserved.

The Women's Bazaar mainly hosts local flavors. It is possible to find many local delicacies and items that can come to mind from authentic spices to food, from clothing to honey.

In the Women's Bazaar, where buryan kebab of Diyarbakir, ice cream of Kahramanmaras, shirdan of Adana, perde pilavi of Anatolia, and many other delicacies can be enjoyed both in a tasting and cooked form, the flavors spread throughout the world are quite interesting and attractive.

The Women's Bazaar, which is generally spread over a relatively small area, stands out as a place that can be visited in a short time and that the person visiting this place can stay long hours if he/she is hungry. The bazaar, which attracts attention with its easy access, is also among the values of the historical district.
