Caricature and Humor (Karikatür ve Mizah) Museum

Undoubtedly, one of the happiest museums in Istanbul is the Caricature and Humor Museum in Fatih district. The museum, which welcomes its visitors with a cheerful concept, dates back to 1975.

The museum, which was opened with the cooperation of an association and the Metropolitan Municipality, was closed in 1980, but started to serve in its new place in 1989 and succeeded to be the favorite of all enthusiasts, especially Istanbulites. The Caricature and Humor Museum's building, which is based on the exhibitions in the Ottoman artifact Gazanferağa Complex, is located next to the Bozdoğan Arch, one of the famous Byzantine structures of the city, draws attention as a culturally exciting destination. It is possible to reach almost everything about cartoons' history in the museum, where a chronological row is at the center.

The works of the cartoonists both from Turkey and many countries can be seen in the museum closely. It is also possible to visit temporary exhibitions in this smiling museum. The museum, where there is always a periodical exhibition every month, brings together the smart drawings of well-known cartoonists with their enthusiasts.

The Caricature and Humor Museum also has a library and an archive section. The museum, which also has a printing workshop; comedy and criticism meeting with painting takes its place in almost every corner. Besides, the museum, which hosts collective events from time to time, is open to visitors every day except Sunday and Monday.
