Macka Palas

Macka Palas in Nişantaşı district of Şişli, one of the oldest districts of Istanbul, draws attention with its wide facade and elegant architecture on a busy street. It is an old building used as a shop and hotel.

The interest of Italians in Nişantaşı and its surroundings increased at the end of the World War I. The wealthy entrepreneur Vincenzo Caivano had Maçka Palas built while the embassy building built at this point created new accommodation needs. His aim was to build places that the embassy employees could rent. The architect of the building was Architect Giulio Mongeri, who came from an Italian family living in Ottoman lands. Maçka Palas reflecting the Italian architectural tradition with all its details consisted of 68 apartments. However, plans for Maçka Palace changed when the Italian Embassy moved across it.

The building, which served only on the basis of accommodation for long years, was bought by a large holding in 1994. Today, Maçka Palas, of which the ground floor is in the form of a store and the floors are rented, serve as a boutique hotel.  

Maçka Palas, which is approximately 100 years old, welcomes its local and foreign guests and thus offers a function suitable for its purpose. The exterior of Maçka Palace impresses those who see it and its interior design is also very luxurious offering an artistic concept.
