Maltepe Central Mosque

Maltepe Central Mosque, one of the art works of recent era coming into forefront with its capacity and architectural characteristics in İstanbul, is located at the most active point of Maltepe district, which is in southeast of the city. The mosque which is famous with its majesty, come to the forefront with its yard and sophisticated structure containing a wide internal place on it, with its stores located below it, its four minarets.

It is covered with a big dome and a smaller one next to it and highly smaller one right to latter one. It is planned as rectangle. Two of its minarets containing three minaret balconies, are placed on corners and other two are placed adjacent to the structure. It is entered into internal place by passing through the last congregation location covered by domes above after it is entered into its wide yard. This location is formed by the second floor carried by big columns and a ground floor.

Muezzin gathering-place is made of wood. The minbar, that is a high place where friday sermon is read, the mihrab where the imam performs prayer and the sermon platform are highly plain. The mosque that has various windows in addition to rectangle ones which are close to square, in a huge size, is lighten by luminaires hunging down.

Maltepe Central Mosque, offering an internal place which is comfortably spacious and less ornaments and plain, is floor-heating place. It offers comfort with this feature. Additionally, it offers opportunity to perform ablution with hot water in its water-tank with a fountain located below.
