Müeeyyedzade mosque is located on Galip Dede Street in Kuledibi at Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. The mysterious story of the mosque is associated with the Lohusa Sultan Shrine. According to the rumor, after Lohusa Hatun's death, the miraculous baby who was Müeyyedzade Yazıcı Mehmet Efendi, found in her grave sucking his dead mother. The child, called ‘Müeeyyedzade’, which means born of the Dead, is taken to the Ottoman palace by the order of the Sultan and becomes a great scholar who performed great services for the state. It is said that Müeeyyedzade Mehmet Efendi built the mosque in the 16th century in memory of this event.

The mosque, which was used as a sawmill and wood storage for many years, started to be used as a place of worship again in 1950 after repair and maintenance works carried out by the residents of the neighborhood under the leadership of Cemalettin Lokman Cankurtaran.

Built on an area of 350 square meters, the wall side of the mosque facing the street is made of stone and brick, and it is possible to witness its historical past from this facade. Because of the carried out repair works, the body of the building and the minaret with a single balcony are far from their original appearance after these repairs.

The courtyard of the mosque was closed and turned into a narthex area, and the fountain and toilets were added thereunder. Müeeyyedzade Mehmet Efendi's tomb is adjacent to the wall of the mosque.
