Nordstern Inn

Located in Istanbul Karaköy square, on Voyvoda Street, Nordstern Han was built in 1889. It is also thought that the building, which is said to have been built by Rafael Salamon Kamonda, was built by the Italian architect Guilio Mongeri, especially because it resembles the Saint Antoine Church on Istiklal Street and the Italian Embassy in terms of architecture. It is even said that Nordstern Han is Mongeri's first architectural work in Istanbul.

On the left side of Nordstern Han, there is the famous Karaköy Palas, whose architecture was made by Mongeri. According to the records of Beyoğlu Land Registry Office in 1813, in the region where the inn was located before its construction, there is a Yahudhane and a building with five shops under it. In the records of the same directorate in 1857, the phrase "the land of Yahudhane with two shops" is found. This expression also means that Yahudhane was not at that time. And again, when the records of 1862 are examined, it is learned that there is an inn with a single door and three shops belonging to Yosef in the place where the inn is located.

Nordstern Han, which was purchased by the Hışım Group within the General Directorate of Foundations, undergoes a large-scale renovation at the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012. After nearly 3 years of restoration and repair work, it started to host its first guests as Nordstern Hotel in 2015.

Today, Nordstern Hotel, which stands out as one of the buildings that form the silhouette of Istanbul Galata and Karakoy regions, continues to serve its guests with the Istanbul view and the unique sea scent of Karakoy and the culture of Istanbul people.
