Behind the Istanbul University Faculty of Literature building in Beyazit in the Fatih district of Istanbul, an interesting historical building with a facade on Vezneciler Street stands out. This building is Seyit Hasan Paşa Madrasah.
The historic building was built by Seyit Hasan Paşa, one of the Ottoman Grand Viziers of the 18th century.
Seyit Hasan Paşa Madrasah, built on a high platform, is quite different from its courtyard, which is climbed by steps. On the other hand, today, the courtyard is closed using the platform based on being turned into a closed space. Currently, the cells of the madrasah, which are used for various purposes such as offices and libraries, are completely adapted to the present day. The large room, which was used as a classroom hundreds of years ago, also today offers a function in the form of a large office room. A stylish water dispenser and fountain in the corner of the building facing the street are among the elements that contribute to the identity of the building.
Today, Seyit Hasan Paşa Madrasah, which functions as a public building, is among the historical values that are recommended to be seen closely.
