Sinan Paşa Fountain

One of Istanbul's fountains with an interesting story is undoubtedly Sinan Paşa Fountain. The fountain, next to the Sinan Paşa Mosque in Beşiktaş, was removed in 1957 as part of the reorganization of Beşiktaş Square and placed behind the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater, which is 1,5 - 2 kilometers away. The historic fountain is placed on the road where vehicle and pedestrian access will be provided to the newly opened cultural structure.

The fountain that was built by Sinan Paşa who was the Ottoman Capitan Pasha, adds aesthetic value to the point where it is located today. The empirical fountain has three parts. In addition to the large niche in the middle, there are three separate niches, that are smaller ones. Its marble columns attract attention.

The fountain, which is not in active condition, also bears extensive traces of restoration. For this reason, it looks pretty clean and well-maintained, almost as if it were new... not standing for centuries, but as if it had just been established. After all, like many historical monuments that were moved in the 1950s, Sinan Paşa Fountain may be in a different position, but it can be seen up close even centuries later. It proudly reflects the traces of the Ottoman Empire.
