Sultanahmet Square in Fatih district is the historical area of Istanbul, famous for its cultural richness, deep-rooted history and vibrant life that has witnessed every step of civilization. . It was built by Ottoman Sultan Ahmet I and it is located in front of the Sultanahmet Mosque which is also known as the Blue Mosque, which is one of the city's landmarks.

Completed in the early 17th century, Sultanahmet Square is home to three famous monuments in the city. These are Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia), built 1400 years ago, the Hippodrome, and the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), which are 1800 years old, although a small number of them have survived to the present day. In the meantime, stonemasons who worked in the construction of the mosque also took part in the construction of the Taç Mahal, one of the important icons of the Islamic world. 

In this Square there is also the mausoleum of Ahmet I which is also famous for its Iznik tiles, Turkish and Islamic Works Museum, Hagia Sophia Museum, Yerebatan Cistern, Million Column, Haseki Hürrem Turkish Bath, Istanbul Crafts Center, Arasta Bazaar, each of which stands out from a historical and cultural point of view.

Sultanahmet Square is a large area where satisfied tourists appear with the vitality of the atmosphere, lively with the sound of simit sellers, carpet sellers, postcard sellers, and artisans. It is in the greenery. It also makes break times enjoyable with numerous eating and drinking points nearby. It is not wrong to say that it is a must-visit destination in this city.

Finally August-July period is the longest period of daylight hours in Istanbul. Therefore, Sultanahmet Square remains bright for long hours during these months.
