Tokatlıyan Han was opened on the site of the theatre building, which was built to provide income for the Three Horan Armenian Church. The hotel which is located on the famous Istiklal Street in the Beyoglu district of Istanbul, between the Çiçek Pasajı and Solakzade Street, is remembered as the most famous and luxurious hotel of the Ottoman period after Pera Palace.

At first, it was opened on Istiklal Street in 1895 by Migirdiç Tokatlıyan under the name of ‘Splendid’ as an expensive cafe restaurant, and after the building converted into a hotel in 1909 with the cooperation of the Armenian community, who owns the property. The hotel, which was called ‘Konak’ until the 1950s with the change of operator, looks for its old gaudy days and is vacated soon after and comes to the present day to be used as a Business Center.

During its popular period, the venue hosted many events such as weddings and celebrations in the ballroom, and its name was frequently mentioned with its domestic and foreign guests in the first years of the 20th century. The hotel's contest with Pera Palas mentioned in leading European travel publications sometimes even takes it one step ahead with its location advantage.

One of the modern structures of its era with its elevators and heaters, the hotel stands out as one of the most popular places of the era with its fan-shaped glass entryway, large windows, high ceilings, large halls, special silverware, furniture, and many distinctive features brought from Europe.
