Abacioğlu Khan

Abacioğlu Khan, which is considered as one of the historical Inns of Izmir, is a place that has been brought into tourism today. The famous inn was built in the 18th century by Haji Mustafa Agha. The repair of the inn takes place by Konak Municipality in 2007. The ”Respect for History and Local Conservation Awards " are awarded to this special inn in the same year. On the other hand, it is the recipient of the Philippe Rotthier European Architecture Award in 2011. These awards increase the popularity of the inn at once. Even those who live in Izmir who do not know the existence of the inn begin to discover it. Abacioğlu Inn is located in the Konak district of Izmir, in the heart of the city. In this sense, it has a very advantageous position in terms of transportation. The historical Kemeraltı Bazaar is the oldest and largest bazaar in Izmir. This bazaar contains many inns. Besides the Abacioğlu Inn, important inns such as Kızlarağası Inn and Demir Inn are also worth seeing. The successful restoration of the Abacioğlu Inn and its authentic atmosphere make it a little more prominent. The authenticity of the inn is largely preserved during the restoration process. With a simple and understated texture, the inn has a rather sympathetic image. The cafes in the courtyard of the inn are of great interest. There are also many shops around the inn. Abacioğlu Inn has decimated itself among the crowd of Kemeraltı Bazaar, but it has captured its old popularity. Two-storey buildings stand out in the historic inn, which has a peaceful atmosphere. Abacioğlu Inn, which is also close to the Başdurak Mosque, has a total of 18 shops in operation today. Mainly gift and jewelry shops are in the foreground.
