Uşakizade Pavilion

22.08.2024 10:07

The pavilion built in 1860 by Uşakizade Sadik Bey, one of the leading figures of Izmir's commercial life, to stay in the summer months is one of the leading historical values of the city. This is because it is the place where the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, stayed on various dates during the following years. It also stands out for being the mansion where he met Latife Hanım, whom she had joined in his life and whose nuptials were held in the Great Hall, on 29 January 1923. The pavilion, which was established as a school by an educational institution for many years, now serves as a cultural center after the restoration completed in 2001. It is noted that the restoration took many years with an understanding based on the consolidation of the building and the arrangement of the interior. The first floor of the Uşakizade Pavilion, which has three floors, is reached by stairs on either side. There are four rooms on the ground floor below the floor, which is reached by stairs. On the other floor, there are six rooms. The purple panicles on the front draw attention.
