Tomb of Alperens

31.01.2024 22:44

This mausoleum, which lies with two Alperens, Halil and Tevfik, one of the most important symbols in the history of the Anatolian Seljuk State, is one of the most important points of Kars's religious tourism. The religious scholar who led the Turks in their entry into Anatolian territory, as well as those who were soldiers, is called Alperen. Two Alperens, Halil and Tevfik, who are the pioneers in their struggle for the entry of the Anatolian Seljuk State into Anatolia, die while fighting where the tomb is now located. After this event in the 11th century, Halil and Tevfik were the first Alperens seljuk martyred in Anatolia. King Alparslan, who prevailed in the siege of Kars in 1064, does not forget these two martyrs and builds the Tomb of the Alperens on their behalf. Located on the outskirts of Kars Castle, the Tomb of the Alperens creates the effect as if it were a guard of the castle. The tomb, which looks quite modest as if it were watching the whole city, also has an important place in terms of religious tourism of the city. The Tomb of Alperens, which reached the present day with a small but very naïve stance among the green grass and shrubs, is the place where the first Alperen martyrs, especially those from Turki states, respect the first Alperen martyrs.
