The most beautiful aspect of Kars architecture is that it is formed by the combination of Armenian, Russian and Ottoman architectural styles. The Bookkeeping Building, which survived from the 1800s, is one of the most beautiful architectural works left by the Russians in Turkey. As a result of the war between the Ottoman Empire and Russia in 1877-1878, the city of Kars was dominated by the Russians. Built as a theatre hall in the late 1800s, the Bookkeeping Building is one of the most beautiful examples of Russians in baltic architectural style. The so-called Baltic architectural style begins in the Netherlands in the 18th century. This style, which was quickly loved and adopted by the Russians, also wants to be applied to the city of Kars. Built by bringing the best architects and engineers of the Netherlands, the building was restored in 1980 and started to be used as the Bookkeeping Building. Today, the bookkeeping building of the State of the Republic of Turkey is one of the most popular buildings of Kars with its architectural beauty and its stance that amazes those who see it.
