Governor's Mansion

22.04.2024 22:16

The Governor's Mansion, where the Kars Agreement was signed, is one of the historical landmarks of the city and is of great architectural importance. After the Ottoman-Russian War, the Kars Agreement with Russia was signed with the retake of the frontier city Kars, which was occupied for 40 years. Russian generals are the other side in the agreement between the Ottoman front and the 15th Corps Commander Kazim Karabekir Pasha. After the agreement signed in this mansion without any problems, a wagon is gifted to Pasha by the generals. Built in 1883, this 'L' mansion is the symbol of the city's liberation. On October 29, 1923, the building was restored when the Republic was declared, and it was used as the Governor's Mansion. Today, the building, also called the Governor's Office and used, is single storey and fills the eye with relief and column decorations located at the east entrance. Kars Governor's Mansion, where photography enthusiasts who want to see the city's symbol of salvation, touch history and capture great frames, compete to each others, has been a symbol of Kars independence for 137 years.
