Hatuniye Madrasah, one of the 12th century Artuklu works, which is used as a mosque today, dazzles with its fine handcrafted decorations.
The madrasah, built by Sitti Raziyye, mother of Kutbüddin Ilgazi, The Ruler of the Artuklu State, which ruled Mardin for many years, is one of the most beautiful examples of Artuklu architectural heritage. Hatuniye Madrasah, which has an important place in the history of architecture and art, has managed to deliver the fine handcrafted decorations, especially in the iwan and tomb sections, to this day.
It is not allowed to succumb to time Hatuniye Madrasah, therefore has undergone many repairs and restorations from the past to the present. Thus, it bears traces from almost every civilization of Mardin, which has hosted numerous cultures.
The tomb is only part that reaches the present day as the madrasah is made and stands out for its decorations of the structure. The tomb of Sitti Raziyye, who built the work, is also found here. Part of Hatuniye Madrasah, which is all worshipped stone and provides mighty integrity with the general architectural structure of Mardin, is now used as a mosque. 21.09.2022 08:20Hatuniye Medresesi’nin diğer ismi Sitti Radviyye Medresesi’dir. Medrese mimarisi açısından eyvanlı medreselerin öncü örneklerinden biri olarak kabul edilen medrese, 1176/7-1184/5 yılları arasında yapılmıştır.Mihrabın yanındaki bir camekân içinde Hz. Muhammed’in ayak izi var. Kutbettin İlgazi’nin annesi Sitti Raziye’nin yaptırdığı bu medreseye gömülmüş olduğu bilinmektedir.
