The church, which can only be discovered by those travelling in the secret gardens of Cappadocia, and fascinates itself with its mystical air, belongs to the 10th century.
Nevşehir is known as the city of churches of Anatolia with the christian settling in Cappadocia and its surroundings in the 2nd century. Cappadocia rocks, which are made of tuff stone and can be easily processed and carved, store a thousand and one beauty in them. The 10th century El Nazar Church will also be the most mystical element to come across in cappadocia's step-by-step discovery.
Many human historical teachings are found on the walls of the Church of El Nazar, where passages from the Bible, the holy book of Christianity, are depicted in scenes. The walls depicting the most important subjects in the history of religions such as the worship of the three muneccim, escape to Egypt, the gospel, ascension, the entrance to Jerusalem and the baptism have reached the present day almost intact. The most important detail in the church's wall paintings is that all the scenes are in chronological order.
The Church of El Nazar with five vaults has a plan of 'T'. There are tombs in the eastern direction of the cross-shaped arms. The structure, which amazes those who see it with its grandeur in the wall paintings dominated by shades of blue, red, red and cream, is among the stops of thousands of tourists every year.
