Baptist Yahya Church

Gabriel and Mikail's frescoes greet visitors at the entrance of The Baptist John Church, cappadocia's oldest worshiphouse, which is among the churches of perhaps a number of importance in the history of the world... Especially the fresco depicting an angel defiantly stands on the wall... The church takes its name from Yahya, who baptized Jesus and had an important place in Christianity. John, who is extremely powerful and so honest in the eyes of people, tells King Hirodes that it is not right for him to marry with his brother's daughter one day. Instead of damaging him because of his respect and being loved by the community, he throws Yahya into prison... Years after this incident, this church is built in the name of Yahya, who was killed at the request of the king's daughter Salome... While touring the Baptist John Church, you will see the trio of basilica dedicated to him.
