Arc de Triomphe, one of the landmarks of Paris, rises in Charles de Gaulle Square, at the western end of the city's most famous street, the Champs-Elysees. Built by order of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806, this magnificent structure was erected to honor France's military victories and army.

The Arc de Triomphe has a height of 50 meters and a width of 45 meters and is decorated with four main reliefs. These reliefs represent some of Napoleon's most important victories and prominent moments in the French revolutionary and Napoleonic wars. Under the structure is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the grave of an unnamed soldier who died in World War I, and every evening at 18:30 a flame is lit to pay respect to the soldiers.
