Pont au Double is a historic bridge over the calm waters of the Seine in the heart of Paris, connecting the Île de la Cité to the Rive Gauche (Left Bank). Named after the fact that the toll used to be two denier (Double), the bridge was originally built in 1626 as a passageway for patients and staff of the Hôtel-Dieu hospital. The original structure served until the late 19th century, when it was replaced by the construction of the present iron bridge.

The reconstructed Pont au Double has an aesthetic and functional design. With its elegant structure and strategic location, the bridge is a popular crossing point for locals and tourists alike, providing easy access to Notre-Dame Cathedral and other historical sites of the island. Crossing the bridge, visitors can enjoy mesmerizing views of the Seine River as well as the impressive silhouette of Notre-Dame, a monumental example of gothic architecture.

More than just a means of transportation, the Pont au Double is a symbol of Paris' rich history and culture. The bridge has been a source of inspiration for artists, poets and writers, and has been featured in many works that showcase the romantic spirit and aesthetic beauty of Paris. A walk over the bridge gives visitors a sense of the city's history and the opportunity to discover the timeless charm of Paris.

Today, Pont au Double remains one of the most iconic structures in Paris. The views the bridge provides and its easily accessible location make it a popular spot for photographers and couples looking for romantic moments. Pont au Double is a living monument that testifies to the history of Paris and presents the city's aesthetic and cultural heritage to visitors. With every walk along the Seine, this bridge remains part of the magic and history of Paris.
