Georgian Hill

Georgian Hill in The Harran Plain, the pupil of Sanliurfa, is an old settlement in the touristic area. Georgian, which can be seen as a mound today, has four hilly areas that can be examined. Georgian II, one of the mounds in question, which is located in a total area of 1 km, has a height of 6 meters and covers a large area of 200 meters in diameter. In general, in the region where the archaeological excavations are underway, slime houses dating back to 8000-4500 bc in various layers have been unearthed. These houses are among the first traces of the hunter-gatherer life of human history, pointing to the transition from living to settled life, and of archaeological importance. In general, the walls of the houses and the basic built-in layout features are the main elements that can be seen in this area for thousands of years. The sickle, an agricultural instrument excavated during excavations in the area, is the most important piece. Glass bottles, animal bones and ceramics were also found. The diversity of flora and fauna is remarkable; For example, cultural plants that are not even in Göbeklitepe were found in Gürcütepe. In addition, fossils of species such as wild boars, foxes and wild oxen were seen entirely in 'wild' life. The current findings reveal that there is no animal husbandry in the region. Also, when the layers in the region were examined, more recently, findings of the ancient period have been uncovered.
