The mystery of the tombs of Şanlıurfa, which has been proven to be the place where history began in recent years, has reached the present day from the 4th century BC creates admiration for those who see it. Today, the Romans call the graveyard or the cemetery the 'Dead City'... Necropolis comes to this day as a word used as the meaning of 'Dead City' and is also used for Kizilkaya Tombs. The Red Sheep Necropolis, which was uncovered in 2014 as part of the Environmental Regulation Project of the audit carried out by the Sanliurfa Museum Directorate, has an important place in terms of the history of christianity and ancient Anatolian traditions. The place, which is filled with sarcophagi with sculptures and reliefs depicted by Roman soldiers, consists of structures from the 3rd and 4th centuries. The rock tombs discovered by the Museum Directorate and made of the limestone, typical stone in the region have been protected since the second half of 2014, along with sculptures and reliefs inside it. Red sheep Necropolis, which is full of square lycra sarcophagi, is also of great importance for Anatolian historians. The tombs at the venue, which provide information about religious rituals, traditions and posthumous life thousands of years ago, shed light on the present. The Redsheep Necropolis, which is one of the places where visitors of Sanliurfa do not return without seeing it, whispers all the teachings of ancient Christianity to the present day in mystical language.
