Mevlid-i Halil (Ddervish Lodge) Mosque

Located in dervish lodge plateau near Fish Lake, Mevlid-i Halil Mosque is next to the cave, which is believed to Prophet Ibrahim have been born. Mevlid-i Halil means 'Blessed Birth'. The mosque, which was built right next to the cave, which is believed to İbrahim have been born, was therefore named Mevlid-i Halil. The area where the building, which is known to have undergone five major phases in historical sources, was first used as a main temple during the Seleukos period. Then a synagogue is made in the same area during Judaism. When Christianity comes, a church is built in the same area. During the Byzantine period, Urfa's Hagia Sophia was also built here. At the end of the 16th century, a mosque was built in the same area by Muhammed Salih Pasha, one of the statesmen of the Ottoman Period. Mevlid-i Halil Mosque has a rectangular plan. The wall between the mosque and the cave is converted into a small minaret. In every restoration work of the mosque, which has been repaired five times in centuries, it has remained true to its original ity. The biggest feature that makes the mosque different from its counterparts is the water coming out of the cave next to it. Locals believe that the water coming out of here is the most healing water after zemzem.
