Reji Church

Built in 1861 on the church ruins of the 6th century in Sanliurfa, the Reji Church is also known as St. Peter and St. Paulus Church, as it was built in memory of the two apostles of Jesus Christ. Although the church continues its activities actively until the syrian migration to Syria, it has been used for other purposes by 1924. After the tombstones extracted from the church were sent to urfa museum, the building was converted into a monopoly factory. The name was soon referred to as the Reji Church due to the meaning of the word 'Regie (Reji)', which is the equivalent of the word 'Monopoly' in French. The building was restored in 1998, which was seen as a recent past, and began operating as governor Kemalettin Gazezoğlu Cultural Center on May 24, 2002. The centre in question is still used for a variety of social activities today. The Reji Church is northeast of 58 Square. The square opens up to four different streets. Important works such as Kurtulus Primary School, Nimetullah Mosque, Sheikh Saffet Lodge, Tomb of Muhammed Muhiddin are found in the vicinity.
