Trabzon, like many historical cities on the Black Sea coast, because of the importance in centuries, has brought countless architectural works of different types to the present day. The New Friday Mosque, which has survived since the city, which welcomes a record number of domestic and foreign visitors every year, joined the ottoman empire territory, is one of the highlights of this scope. The New Friday Mosque is a religious structure converted from the church with similar examples in the city. Although there is no definitive information, the Hagios Eugenius Church, which is thought to have dates back to the 13th century in the first built history and dedicated to St Eugenios, was transformed into a mosque after the city's conquest in 1461. The mosque, which has three longitudinal spaces and three abscesses as a building element, stands out for its decorations and fine craftsmanship. It is famous for its pigeon and eagle reliefs. At the same time with its night lighting, it adds a different beauty to the city's skyline. The courtyard is relatively small. The New Friday Mosque, which was later expanded with additions, is among the historical buildings that attract intense visitors with its central location in Trabzon.
