Çarpanak Church

In the 9th century of Van, we are on Çarpanak Island, known as the peninsula, because the nose part is not yet flooded. We examine the Çarpanak Church, which takes its name from the island and preserves all its glory today. The Church of Çarpanak, built for St. Hrispime, Holy Cross, St. Jean and St. Gragorie, called the 'Holy Four'; used as a monastery in the early periods. By 1462, it was largely renovated by Monk Etienne and Architect Gregoire. The work is carried out by staying true to the original. The church, which achieved its present form in 1712 with the touches of Mimar Koçbar, sheds light on the architectural styles of Armenians living in Mesopotamia. The Armenian monastic community living in Van has lived in a monastery of the same name on Adir Island for many years. By the 15th century, many years of wars occur in the region, and the murder of The Great Priest Nerses takes its place on the pages of history. After this event, the community leaves Adir Monastery and settles in The Çarpanak Monastery and begins to live there. When the Çarpanak Church is evaluated architecturally, it is all white, brown and cream ashlar. The main interior of the church, which has a completely artistic architectural approach and used black tuff on the dome part, has a cross-plan. Although the interior lighting of the church is largely provided with eight small windows, the large window on the east wall provides the actual light.
